CAT App
Are you working with CAT or planning to? Then read this support article where we explain to you exactly how the CAT App link works.
Installing the app
To install the CAT app, go to the App Store via the market stall icon. Here, choose the CAT app and then click ‘Install’. You will then see a screen with the information that can be read by the app and at the very bottom you choose the Administration(s) for which this app should be installed.
To install the app, you need to have access to the App Store. In this case, you will see a market stall at the top of your Booking Experts menu bar. If you are not sitting this market stall, you can ask an organisation manager to give you App Store permissions.
After the app is authorised, click ‘OK’ to continue.
Set up app
To set up CAT's app properly, choose ‘Settings’ under ‘Commands’. Here, you then enter the URL you receive from CAT and then you can save the settings.
The URL you need here is an external IP address followed by a port to be accessed externally. As an example: http://141.136.125.130:15071
Map types synchronise
CAT Products can be used to automatically generate maps for reservations in Booking Experts. Think for example of license plate cards or shower passes. This also allows Guests to check in automatically after a successful transaction.
To create Products, you first need to synchronise the card types from CAT to the app. You do this by choosing ‘Card types and products’ under ‘Commands’ and then clicking ‘Synchronise card types’.
Creating Products
After the card types have been synchronised from CAT, you can start adding products to these card types. You add these products by clicking on the relevant map and then on ‘Products’. Here you can then add a new Map via ‘+Add’. When creating a product, enter the following data:
General
Here you enter the name of the product and choose the Administration for which the product is valid.
Number of maps
Here you choose the calculation of the amount of maps you want to issue per Reservation. You have a choice of:
- 1 per stay
- 1 per person - here you can also enter the persons to be counted on the basis of guest group.
- Per number purchased
Number of points -> Balance calculation
This heading determines the so-called ‘Balance’ to be put on the Map. This is relevant, for example, in the case of registration cards. Here you can make two choices:
- Points calculation: how often the points number should be calculated, where you can choose from: (1) Fixed amount, (2) Per person, and (3) Per person per day.
- Number: how many points should be awarded per set frequency.
If you opt for a points calculation per person per night, a four-night Reservation for four people will be awarded a ‘Balance’ of 16.
Within CAT, you determine whether the ‘Balance’ is put on the Map as a montant or points number.
Number of credits -> Points calculation
Under this heading, you determine
- Number of points and/or credits: See the heading ‘Points and credits’ in this article.
- Filters: If desired, you can apply filters here based on object labels, Types, or Costs (distinguishing between mandatory costs and extras).
- By object label
- By type
- By cost items
- On mandatory costs
- On extras (cost items chosen by the guest)
- Any fixed Map start and end time
- Tick ‘Wait for check-in’ if desired
With the checkbox ‘Wait for check-in’, you can ensure that an exemption immediately becomes active the moment you check in the guest. If you uncheck this box, the guest will only have access from the entered start time.
- Tick ‘Automatic check-in’ if desired.
The ‘Automatic check-in’ checkbox allows you to ensure that a Reservation is automatically checked in the moment the license plate number is registered by the barrier.
- If desired, tick ‘Send maps to guest’.
Editing card types and products
if a card type or product does not have the correct settings, you can edit it as required.
Under Commands, choose Card types and Products.
For card type: Click the name of the card type you want to edit.
For product: Click or Products number.
Click Edit to edit the card type or product.
Note! You can choose to generate a pin code within the card type. This pin code is then sent to the guest by e-mail (and possibly by SMS) using the Application message template CAT card dispatch.
Make the desired changes and save the changes.
Setting up printers
To print maps, you first need to synchronise printers from CAT to the app.
Under Commands, choose Printers and click Sync Printers.
Editing printers
When synchronising printers from CAT, the name set there is inherited. You can personalise this by editing the printers.
Click the printer name and click Edit.
Adjust the name as desired and save the change.
Maps on Reservation (adding additional maps)
It is possible to view the details of the Map(s) known to CAT at the time of Reservation. Maps for reservations can be generated automatically based on the Products set. You can also manually add maps if, for example, a guest receives an additional access.
Go to the relevant Reservation and click on Apps at the top and then choose CAT Maps.
Here you can see the Map details. If required, click +Add to add a new map to the Reservation.
Owners' Maps (add additional maps)
It is possible to see the details of the map(s) known to CAT at Owners. Owners' Maps cannot be generated automatically based on the Products set. You need to add them manually if, for example, an owner gets additional access.
Go to the relevant owner and click on Apps at the top and then choose CAT Maps.
Here you can see the Map data. If desired, click +Add to add a new map for the owner.
This works the same way as described for Reservations above.
Print, send, block, restore, delete and edit maps
It is possible to see the details of the card(s) known to CAT at the Reservation or Owners. These can also be modified if necessary.
Go to the relevant Reservation or Owner and click on Apps at the top, then select CAT Maps.
Print:
Choose the desired printer and select the desired maps to print. Then click Print selected maps.
Send, block, restore, delete and edit:
Click the ID of the relevant Map and choose the desired action.
Setting up application message templates
When you have successfully installed the app, a tab called Application Message Templates will be shown under the Templates submenu. You need to personalise and activate these before sending the access code.
To do this, go to the Cogwheel and choose Templates in the submenu.
Then choose Application message Templates.
Click on CAT Map sending to edit it.
Note that the tag {{ card_number_2 }} should be used to show the code in the mail or SMS.
If desired, choose to send the template by SMS (this requires you to have a Bird account linked to the Administration). Save the application message template.
View transactions
Would you like to view all transactions? Then click Apps at the top of Booking Experts and click CAT Transactions and Maps.
Here you will see all transactions in, where you can filter by day and time of day, and in addition you can use the search field for further specification.
Open port
Do you want to open a gate? Then click Apps at the top of Booking Experts and then click Open CAT Location. Here, select the appropriate location and open it.
Map validity after the guest has checked out
Once the guest has checked out, then the Map is valid for 30 minutes. So the guest has 30 minutes to drive out of the park. However, this works differently once the default check-out time of the type approaches. Suppose the default check-out time for the type is 11am. A guest arrives at the counter at 10:45 and would like to check out. The guest then has 15 minutes to drive through the barriers.
