Vouchers
A voucher is a unique code that represents an amount of money. When making a new reservation, the guest can pass on the unique code to you, receiving the value of the monetary amount as a discount on the new reservation.
A voucher cannot be paid out to the guest, nor can it be cashed in as a cashier's payment at the hospitality industry. Vouchers are only made to be redeemed on reservations.
Voucher overview
An overview of the vouchers can be found under the 'Reservations' tab. Then choose 'Vouchers' from the right submenu. By default we only show the vouchers with credit, but if you uncheck 'With credit' you will see all vouchers.
Payment methods for vouchers
There are two payment methods for the vouchers. To check these, go to the 'Financial' tab and then to 'Payment methods'. You will see 'Voucher' - for payments by redeeming a voucher - and 'Paid out as a voucher' - for credit placed on a voucher. The payment methods end up in ledger account 2030: 'Vouchers in circulation'.
Depending on your administration settings, the revenue is often booked on the end date of the reservation. This is because the old reservation is credited, so the voucher revenue then applies to the new reservation.
