Avoiding spam when sending email campaigns and auto emails

You want the emails that you send through email campaigns or auto emails to be well received. There are a number of things that help prevent your emails from ending up in a spam folder.

Booking Experts applies several techniques to reduce the chances of emails being marked as spam (see below). However, it can never be completely prevented.

Booking Experts also regularly carries out tests via mail-tester.com to check the technical quality of our emails. In doing so, we aim to maintain our perfect score of 10/10.

What can you do yourself?

It is important to ensure that the content of your emails is safe and reliable. Check the email content for suspicious (unsecured) links, words and attachments that might be detected by spam filters. Never buy a list of email addresses from a potentially unethical party.

Also, make sure your outgoing email address is properly set up and verified.

Techniques used by Booking Experts:

  • DKIM - (DomainKeys Identified Mail) is a security protocol used to digitally sign emails. This allows receiving email providers to verify that the content of the email has not been altered during the sending process.
  • SPF - (Sender Policy Framework) is a protocol that determines which servers are authorised to send emails on behalf of a domain. By setting up SPF correctly, we can prevent others from abusing our domain to send unwanted emails.
  • Dedicated IP addresses - for sending email. This helps improve the delivery process and reduces the chances of messages being marked as spam.
  • Unsubscription Links - To comply with email marketing legislation, every outgoing email is provided with a working unsubscribe link. This allows recipients to easily unsubscribe from further email communication.
