Availability of a package

You can determine when a package should be visible and available online. A package can also be restricted to backoffice only. The settings below can be filled or changed when creating or editing a package.

Period

Under this heading, you have to indicate when the package should be available online, and for which reservation dates the package may be applied. This is done with period groups.

The first period group you have to select indicates when this package is visible on your website, and available to guests. If you select the period group 'Always' here, it may happen that the package will also be visible when its applicability period has already passed. In such a scenario, an Easter package will also be visible after Easter has passed and the package can no longer be applied. The solution is to create a period group from today until Easter and apply it here.

The second period group you have to select indicates the reservation dates for which this package may be applied. For the Easter package scenario, these are the dates of the Easter weekend. You might have to create a period group for these dates and apply it here.

Period groups can be created in your administration settings.

You can also choose whether a package will only be available to a guest during the initial booking process, or will also be available as an upgrade in the Customer portal.

Image is key to visibility

The last step of creating a package is uploading an image. This allows it to be synchronised with the CMS and shown on the website. It is best to use photos of the highest possible resolution. Booking Experts will then reduce the photos to a maximum of 2048px by 2048px. Also read about how to highlight packages on your website in search & book - Packages.

If you want to use the same image for multiple packages, you have to upload the same image separately for each package. It is not possible to copy it.

Package in backoffice only

If you don't add an image when creating a package, it will not synchronise with the CMS and will therefore not be visible online. This has no effect on the other availability settings or cost settings of the package. A package that is saved without an image, can still be added to a reservation by backoffice employees.

It is also possible to temporarily hide a package by editing it to delete the image. It will synchronise and no longer be visible online, until you add an image again.
